HOW THE GREGG HALL PROJECT CAME TO BE:
I lived in La Crosse from 2007 for almost three years. My boyfriend during that time was from West Salem and a drummer. We always went to watch live music. That is how I became familiar with Gregg Hall and his music. His music was always one of our favorites to watch. Once I moved back to Minneapolis in late 2009, I kept up with his career on social media, like I do with many local artists and musicians. I recall even watching him play in Minneapolis some times.
I am a full-time worker at PepsiCo, but my true passion is writing. I have been writing and working on screenplays outside of my typical 9-5 job for the past four years. A few of my fellow screenwriting mentors had suggested I direct and produce a short film as a way to promote my writing.
I wouldn’t call myself a musician, but over the years I played guitar and wrote my own music. I played open mics in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In my undergraduate days, one of my jobs was to host an open mic at a local Milwaukee blues bar once a week.
Later, in 2024, when I decided that I did want to make a short film, it was natural to look at my fellow artists and musicians. The first person that came to mind was Gregg. I thought about it for a while. I workshopped the idea with my mentors in the film industry. I messaged Gregg and presented the idea to him. Next thing you know the Gregg Hall Project was born into the universe. May I say in fact it is a super Deece project indeed. I am excited to see this project evolve. You won’t want to miss it.
